Abstract
The development of high-speed rail transit systems linking domestic with international transport networks is one of Thailand's key development strategies. Different types of brake system and brake pad material are needed for those high-speed trains. Brake pads made of composite materials are the suitable choice, due to their light weight, high strength, good toughness, impact resistance, and has a long service life.
Steel-based composites are used as high friction materials in various types of automotive parts, including brake pads. This research is to develop iron-molybdenum composites containing molybdenum disulfide and graphite as solid lubricants to enhance tribological properties. The physical properties, mechanical properties and tribological behavior will be studied and compared with commercial brake pad.
