Abstract

This research was studied the non-premixed combustion of synthetic LPG on a slot burner. the non-premixed combustion can be prevented problems and dangers from the flashback flame. The slot burner is designed to have the objects to change the flow pattern. The author designed the vortex generator combination with porous board and bluff body shape. The composition of synthetic LPG is propane (C3H8) 70% and butane (C4H10) 30%. The slot burner has two fuel channels on the side and an air port in the middle. This research focus on the effects of the vortex generator. The parameters studied were as follows Angle , the direction CW and CCW, Aspect ratio (AR) and the distance between VG (S) . There is a bluff body design in various the shapes. There are cylinder, triangular1, triangular2 and spiral. The study is change in equivalence ratio  to improve the combustion characteristic of LPG in the industrial sector. The model was developed by using the computational flow dynamics, using the numerical methods. Then choose a good and interesting cases to build a burner and do the experiments to compare the shape of the flames that appeared, the average temperature above the burner and the soot free length fraction (SFLF). A vortex generator (VG) at the air port may help to make the vortex current and increase the air velocity. The well-mixed between air and fuel is expected to be done and better combustion characteristics will be observed.
