Abstract
Nickle aluminium bronze (NAB) is a marine alloy which is used for seawater impeller, propeller together with pipe and valve in maritime applications. Due to its usage, it usually undergoes erosion-corrosion induced by hard particles in the seawater medium. Erosion-corrosion is a synergy effect from both of erosion and corrosion; thus, the severely damages occurs on the metals. At present, there are high amounts of foundry and heat treatment industries in Thailand to manufacture parts for import substitution. However, the parts do not effectively resist to erosion-corrosion. In this work, the improving of nickel aluminium bronze against erosion-corrosion by heat treatment is focused. NAB will be heat treated by vary parameters e.g. temperature, time and cooling. After heat treatment, they will be tested in the erosion-corrosion test chamber. Failure investigation will be achieved to understand erosion-corrosion failure mode and to improve the alloy against erosion-corrosion
