Abstract

The present work aims to develop the medical devices based on natural rubber foam (NRF) which is officially sensitive to moisture and bacterial i.e. filter, mask or the support foam material. Not only the antibacterial, the strong solvent absorption is required for such material. Thus, new material with responding to the requirement properties is needed and the NRF had well suited for it by incorporation with modified and unmodified metal oxide. NRF had several advantage properties including superior elasticity, hydrophobicity, insulate properties and also it can act as the adhesive material. Here, the modified ZnO and TiO2 are one of the most attractive metal oxide that can be applied to the NRF relating there uniqueness properties based on photocatalytic origination. Such metal oxide fillers can react with light and moisture for releasing ROS and metal ions which had well attack to solvent molecules and bacterial cell wall. With the improvement also the mechanical, dynamic mechanical, hardness and surface area of the NRF, collaboration with Natural Latex Mattresses Industry (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is also provided.
