Abstract
The aim of this project is to develop a mechanical vibration test bench for vertical axial flow drainage pumps, commonly named as Payanak drainage pumps. This vibration test bench will be embedded in the pump performance test rig, which was established from the previous project. Mechanical vibrations will be assessed in an eight-inch-diameter Payanak pump. This prototype pump will be designed and developed according to the manufacturer’s requirements. At the best efficiency point (BEP), it will operate at an efficiency of at least 75 percent with a deliverable head of 3 meters and a pump rotational speed of 1450 rpm. It is certain that evaluation of mechanical vibration can dramatically improve manufacturing quality of pump components including an impeller, a guide vane, and a transmission shaft. Imperfections during the manufacturing process, such as impeller imbalance, bent shaft, and misalignment, can be detected using vibration analysis. To sum up, the scope of work includes the construction of a mechanical vibration test bench, the development of an eight-inch-diameter Payanak pump, and the evaluation of mechanical vibration in the prototype pump. In addition, marketing survey of Payanak pumps in Thailand will be performed and marketing opportunities of Payanak pumps for the neighboring countries will be analyzed
