Abstract

This research aims to develop an integrated prototype model for xylose and xyloligosaccharide purification from hemicellulose extraction using the hydrothermal process for purification and model in conversion of sugarcane trash to value-added products under economically feasible biorefinery industry. The project will focus on the exploration of purification technology of xylose and xylooligosaccharides using integrated potential process in industrial scale such as activated carbon, ion-exchange chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, and membrane techniques based on the hydrothermal fractionation process advantaged on eco-friendly. This research involves a preliminary study of purification in lab-scale for assembling the prototype of a purification unit to extract the high purified sugar products (³ 90%), including the modification of a batch high pressure reactor (25-50 L) for the hemicellulose fractionation. This achievement of prototype fabrication leads to promising biorefinery technologies with potential and possibility under the collaboration between the academic institutes, and industrial partnerships
