Abstract
This research focuses on the design of axial burners especially on inverse diffusion flame burner
(IDF) affected the natural gas flame temperature by study of numerical model. In order to enhance the
flame temperature by simulation study, the obtained simulation results were compared to the
experimental previous study with less than 10% of difference. In this research, there are four types of
the air and fuel ports, which consisted of inner and outer spiral air ports, outer spiral fuel port and
combinations between inner and outer fuel and air ports, respectively for study of the flame temperature,
flame characteristic and flow characteristics of air and fuel. As the results, the outer spiral air port with
inner spiral fuel port designed on IDF axial burner affected the best mixing between air and fuel and the
highest flame temperature (1,362.37 °C) or 4% increment of previous study. This study could enhance
the natural gas flame temperature with outer spiral air port and inner spiral fuel ports IDF axial burner.
