Abstract
Zinc–air battery (ZAB) is an electrochemical device which converts chemical energy into electricity. This battery has been investigated in primary cells for a long time because of the strengths of ZAB including its low-cost components, environmentally friendly and high security. However, the major weakness of this battery is its low power density. This research was aimed to investigate the main factors affecting performance of ZAB using MnO2/C as the cathode catalyst and fabricated by painting method. The effects of zinc powder size, KOH electrolyte concentration and KOH loading method on the cell performance were investigated. Open-circuit potential and chronopotentiometric techniques were used to measure performance of the ZAB.
