The Changing Socio-Economic Context After Settlement of Mlabri Tribe at Bokluea District, Nan Province, Thailand

The objective is to study the economic and social community context of Mlabri in the Phufa community from 2015 to 2018 after settlement for ten years. This research collected quantitative and qualitative methods. The population is Mlabri villagers 32 samples. It was found that a) Economic context, The income tends to increase. Especially income from livelihood from 800,000 baht in 2015 to 1,400,652 baht in 2018, an increase of 600,652 baht, 75%, is higher than the poverty line. Mlabri's expenses increase from the payment of debts. Decreasing Expenses include food, beverages, and tobacco, from 657,850 in 2015 to 260,053 baht in 2018, decreasing 397,797 baht or 60 %. The expenditure was reduced because of the skills in agriculture for their consumption. Additional Mlabri gathered for usage in the community have a value of 222,053 baht. B) Social context, Mlabri has a community management system that combines the old and current systems. For area management, Mlabri had to comply with the agreements of the neighboring community. They have to make some lifestyle adjustments. Community committees are set up to understand both inside and outside the community. Mlabri received fundamental rights like other communities. All were changing for food security, health, and education as the foundation of the next generation. So it can be said that the Mlabri tribe has a way for ethnic groups to live in the present society by conserving their way of life as a community in a hunting-gathering society.
