Abstract
Sugarcane cutting blades are an essential part of sugarcane harvesting. There are two types of
sugarcane cutting blades: domestic and imported, with differences in efficacy and price. The objective
of this research is to compare the physical and chemical properties of domestically produced and
imported sugarcane cutting blades. The hardness was tested, and microstructure characterization was
carried out using light optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results
show that sugarcane cutting blades made in Thailand are harder than those imported from other
countries. The microstructure shows that the imported sugarcane cutting blades have metal powder
coating on the cutting edge surface, therefore, the blades have high impact resistance and good wear
resistance.
