Traction Drive System using Adaptive Minimum Limit of DC-bus Voltage Control for Energy Efficiency Operation

High efficiency operation in traction drive system is essential for electric vehicle applications. In this paper, reductions of losses in the three-phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) driving induction motor are mainly focused for increasing the overall efficiency. By applying the adaptive minimum limit of DC-bus voltage control, the proposed system can be operated efficiently over a wide speed range. The details of proposed methods, analysis, discussions, and simulation and experimental results will be presented in this paper.
