Abstract

The purpose of this research was to limit time recording of the machines' operation with automated data logging. The factory prescribed the standard time of recording the machines' operation to be tested in a year. According to the factory prescription, ten machines will be tested in a year, there will be five times recording for each, it will take a total one hour and ten minutes in one test, and it has to have one employee per each machine. However, this is a waste of resources, labors, and time without any value added. From the study about Serial Communication and Ethernet communications, this makes it possible to operate by using a controller to extract the operating signal from the machine, uses the middleware to read and process signals, writes interconnected conditions, and records machine operation data to the database. The data will be divided into 2 parts. The first part is about measuring the operation of the machine with The Operation Availability, Average Cycle time, and Loss time. The second part is about measuring the energy consumption of the machine, then analyzing the mentioned data and showing the results. According to the automated data logging test, it found that the test can limit time recording of the machines' operation, including decreasing employees, and display the machines' operation result via monitor. In a year, a person's working time can be eliminated to record and calculate a total of 210,000 seconds of human work, which results in a total reduction in employment labor costs of 14,847 Baht per year.
