Abstract
Sophorolipids from C. riodogensis and S. bombicola have a unique structure which includes
hydroxy fatty acids, which can be applied as a polymer building block. For the first time, we optimized the culture medium of C. riodogensis and S. bombicola to increase the production cthese industrially significant sophorolipids. In a flask culture, Sophorolipids were produced at concentration of 24.1 g/L using an optimal culture medium consisted of 50 g/L glucose, 50 g/L palm oil, 5 g/L and yeast extract. These findings suggest that optimizing the culture mediun composition can result in a significant increase in C. riodogensis and S. bombicola derived SLs production. Finally, the sophorolipids were successfully separated from the culture medium and purified. This study's increased generation of SLs from the yeasts will contribute in the successfu
development of sophorolipids applications.
