Conservation Voltage Reduction using Submersible Transformer Integrated with OLTC and Monitoring System

This paper proposes the submersible transformer
integrated with MR ecotap vpd and idT monitoring system. This
submersible transformer passes the routine and design tests
according to IEEE std. C57.12.00 and IEEE std. C57.12.90. Also,
this paper introduces the procedures to test the submerged
capability of the transformer following IEEE C57.12.24-2016.
The submerged test is done with and without load connected to
the secondary side of the transformer. The total time for testing
lasts more than three days. The submersible transformer can
properly operate without breakdown. After that, this
submersible transformer has been installed in prefabricated
vault at Charoenchai Transformer Co.,Ltd for real use since
March 2021. During that time, the advantage of the OLTC
equipped with this submersible transformer is shown by saving
energy consumption about 11.5%. Furthermore, this
submersible transformer will be useful for real estate owners
who would like to fully utilize the surface area above ground.
