Abstract

Biodiesels can derive from different vegetable oils, or animal fats can potentially substitute the petro-diesel fuel. Thus, surface tension is one crucial value correlated to other physical properties that directly affect the combustion process. Accordingly, the model that correlates the surface tension of biodiesel blends to the number of carbon atoms and the number of double bonds of biodiesel proposed. It blends with petro-diesel at various temperatures and blend ratios. The model showed a linear relationship with Gibbs energy additivity method (GEAM). All the estimated surface tensions agree well with the reported experiment values, and It is the most accurate predictive model.
