Abstract

This work focuses on forming of an advanced high strength steel (AHSS) part. The part is an unsymmetrical one. The material used is 1.2 GPa steel with an initial thickness of 1.4 mm. A shell element with the explicit time integration is adopted. The nonlinear finite element method is adopted to analyze the process and is validated with the corresponding experiments. Two different material models are applied and discussed. Breakage and wrinkle issues are observed from shrink and stretch flanging. A countermeasure for tearing is implemented. Some experience sharing is discussed.
