Abstract

An upgrading method at less than 240 °C, in which we use microwave-assisted treatment, makes a higher heating value compared to parent material from livestock biomass waste. The pretreatment of the raw sample was prepared by dewatering. The water content after pretreatment was reduced to less than 5%. A solid fraction, biochar, was obtained from the microwave-assisted treatment. Biochar is desired to be utilized as a quality solid fuel because of its higher heating value. To evaluate biochar as a quality solid fuel, analyses of its physical and chemical characteristics are essential for comparison. This work examines proximate analysis, heating value, and morphology measurement.
