High-rise building system must be ready to always use. Therefore, electrical service engineer is very important to deal with emergency event that usually occurs because of physical degradation of equipment over time. And because large amount of people lives in the high-rise building, maintaining technique and decision with safe and effective under service level agreement is the critical issue. Electrical service engineer, usually, faces to different problem and people for high-rise building system service. The problem-solving skill of an electrical service engineer is essential whenever a system failure occurs. In addition, communication skill is also required to explain or negotiate with people about occurred problem. In this paper, problem-solving skill development of electrical service engineer for high-rise buildings was studied. Case-based learning was applied to educate electrical service engineering to identify the root causes of issues and provide the best solutions for avoiding reoccurring problems. Moreover, clearly understand what happening will support electrical service engineer easily communicate with people who dealt with. CDIO initiative was integrated to case-based learning because it can develop creativity and critical thinking in conjunction with the fundamental knowledge and skills of electrical service engineer. Additionally, information from electrical service engineering was gathered using the socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization (SECI) model to develop a standard for a future solution.
