Abstract
The enhancement of energy conversion on micro combustor focuses on investigating, both numerically and experimentally combustion of butane in a micro combustor with the goal to enhance the energy converted to electricity using analysis of wall temperature and emissive power. In this study, the temperature distribution and wall temperature on simulation model of micro combustor were comparable and validated with the referenced research model. This study focuses on the effected parameters of a single channel and a double-layer four-channel micro combustor with variation of butane mass flow rates at equivalence ratio 1.0. The butane mass flow rate of 1.2 x 10-6 kg/s, 1.8 x 10-6 kg/s and 2.4 x 10-6 kg/s were also applied for experiment. The experiment was designed to study the variation of channel, mass flow rates and equivalence ratio related to power output and energy conversion efficiency. At maximum flow rate,185.5% increase of emissive power and energy conversion efficiency of a double-layer four-channel micro combustor were obtained and higher compared to the single channel the emissive power. This study concluded that the design of four-channel cubic micro combustor (four stepped slot inlets) could enhance the emissive power and converted energy.
