Abstract
This research studied the suitable method for producing auto part name "PILLAR SIDE INNER UPPER" originally manufactured with JSC270C steel when replacing the manufactured material with high strength steel JSC440W and advanced high strength steel ISC980Y. JSTAMP software is used as a finite element analysis tool to detect formability and springback problems. Simulation results reveal that the original die and design, tailored for JSC270C material, are not suitable for forming the same part using JSC440W and JSC980Y. Process and part design enhancements are necessary. Introducing a preform as the initial step resolved cracking and wrinkling problems when working with JSC440W. For JSC980Y, part shape adjustments were required to address cracking and wrinkling issues. Press tool (Die) surface compensation is exclusively necessary for the production of JSC980Y material, as it is the primary focus of actual production. JSTAMP conducts die compensation initially, and the die surface data obtained is subsequently used for part production. Additionally, ThinkDesign software is employed to fine-tune the die surface based on the actual springback distance. This methodology ensures that the final part exhibits springback quality within the range of ±0.5 mm, achieving a rate of 97.97%.
