In the realm of nanomaterials, titanium nanoparticles hold significant potential for various applications. This study investigates the synthesis of titanium nanoparticles through electrical discharge machining (EDM), focusing on the impact of electrode variables on nanoparticle production. Specifically, we examined two key variables: electrode diameter and milling time. Scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the materials. Our findings indicate a direct relationship between milling time and electrode diameter with titanium nanoparticle production, although they had insignificant effects on the nanoparticle size. The predominant constituents of the produced nanoparticles were primarily composed of titanium carbide nanoparticles. These results provide valuable insights into the control of titanium nanoparticle synthesis in EDM processes, with potential implications for various applications of nanomaterials.
