Abstract

The purpose of this effort is to build a platform that facilitates the continuum of care from preoperative to postoperative care for patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Since most patients undergoing abdominal surgery are elderly, the postoperative recovery period can be lengthy and problematic. Patient mental health and recovery can benefit from a platform that can provide both preoperative and aftercare information. The platform consists of a mobile application that displays and collects data from patients or caretakers and a dashboard that displays each patient's current stage, allowing doctors and nurses to monitor patient progress over time.  With this platform, abdominal surgery patients will have access to high-quality and affordable solutions that improve their health and reduce the burden on healthcare workers.
