Abstract
This research presents a method for calculating the parameters of a battery
based on the relationship between the electrical variables of a Thevenin equivalent
circuit model. The analysis was based on the data obtained from the discharge
behavior of a battery with different discharge rates. The efficiency indicator used to
predict the cycle life of the battery was the root mean square error (RMSE). In this
study, the battery cycle life was predicted by comparing different models using
experimental results from a 12V, 18Ah lead-acid battery with a constant discharge
rate of 1.8A. The study found that estimation using the third-order model gave the
lowest error, which was 4.9901 x 10-3. This value was compared with the
experimental result and was found to be acceptable and reliable for estimating the
battery parameters. This study can predict the cycle life of the battery and provide
guidance for improving battery performance.
