Abstract
Recently, the number of elderly people is highly increased in many countries in the world. Some elderly people usually take antacids as their daily basis and some of them have difficulty on reading their dosage on the packages. The research of “Redesign of Antacids Package label for Elderly People” aimed to develop package labels of antacid tablets so that the elderly could easily read and to compare the satisfaction from the elderly on the new package labels design. This research started by surveying the satisfaction of the 2 types of widely used tablet antacids packaging, among sample group of 50 people aged between 50-69 years old, to understand their problems and to receive guidelines for developing the package labels. The new labels were designed according to the survey and sent to 2 pharmacists, 1 graphic designer expert and 50 elderly people once again to receive their feedback on each new package designs. The results showed that the label with increased font size along with ergonomic design of the package and the use of coloured bars to highlight dosage information made it easier to comprehend. The use of graphic to represent the tablet shape and placing commercial information in areas that did not interfere with drug information made it easier for seniors to read. The survey of the elderly's satisfaction with the new package label design found that the label with full colour on the front of the box and large illustrations was the most readable and eye-catching label.
