Abstract

In this article, we review research on the influences of culture on cognitive aging, with a focus on long-term memory and attention. Given the small number of studies directly investigating cognitive aging across cultures, we draw on existing crosscultural studies comparing brain and behavior in young adult samples. We outline the potential for future research and discuss the importance of adopting a cross-cultural lens to support cognition and well-being in older adults in diverse cultural contexts.
