บทคัดย่อ
Acetophenone, one of the persistent organic pollutants contaminated in phenol-production wastewater and other industrial wastewater, is difficult to treat by conventional biological processes. It has been widely accepted that the Fenton process, one of the advanced oxidation processes, can deal with acetophenone. Nevertheless, could be also removed via the Fenton-like process which is less expensive and Ferric-salt has high stability under rich oxygen conditions. To be applicable in industry, the purpose of this research is to identify the intrinsic 2nd-rate constant between acetophenone and hydroxyl radicals (kAP,OH•) in a Fenton-like reaction by using a competitive kinetics technique in which aniline was used as a reference compound. The batch experiments were performed under the temperature of 25 0.2 ºC and pH 2.5 0.02. The kAP,OH• value attained by the Fenton-like process was determined with an average of 9.24 109 M-1s-1 which was comparably approaching by the Fenton process, and it was not influenced by variations of ferric ions, hydrogen peroxide, and aniline concentration. The reaction rate was controlled by both ferric ions and hydrogen peroxide concentration.
