Abstract

This paper proposes the application of a power factor correction (PFC) boost converter and a half-bridge resonant inverter for hot tensile testing (HTT), a method for determining the characteristics of materials at elevated temperatures. When the heating temperature exceeds the normal range, computer simulation is used to study and design circuits. The simulation results reveal that the boost converter circuit is effective. It can convert the input current into a sine wave in phase with the input voltage. By using the switch at a frequency of 51 kHz, the half-bridge inverter circuit uses a switching frequency of 46 kHz and can control the DC output voltage from 20 - 340 volts with an input current of 5 amps.
