Abstract
This research studied the energy consumption characteristics of battery electric trucks evaluating on real operation patterns. The experiment and analysis can be divided into 3 terms 1) to evaluate the average energy consumption rate, 2) to analysis the effect of speed and weight on the average energy consumption rate, and 3) the economic feasibility analysis. On the road test, the 3 sets of 6-wheeler battery electric truck with 1 trailer on a set were used. each truck has a motor capacity of 160 kW, and battery capacity of 218.54 kWh. The data of electricity usage of the trucks were collected starting from the warehouse in Wang Noi District, Ayutthaya Province, to 3 destination branches: 1) Chachoengsao branch, 2) Nakhon Pathom branch, and 3) Pak Chong branch. From the tests, it was found that the average energy consumption rate varies with different load weights and speeds. It can be summarized from the tests that when the battery electric trucks operate with different load weights and speed, the average energy consumptions are approximately lowest at 0.717 kWh/km, and highest at 0.817 kWh/km when the load weight and speed were increased by an average of 33 km/h. These affect the energy usage in the economic comparison aspect, showing that the shortest of payback period approximately 2-3 years.
