Abstract
In the field of game development education, understanding complex mathematical concepts such as vector calculation is essential. However, traditional teaching methods often struggle to effectively engage students with these principles. This study presents the development of “Math Conquest: The Developer’s Journey”, an action role-playing game (RPG) that integrates mathematical concepts into its gameplay to enhance student engagement and comprehension. To assess the impact of “Math Conquest”, a study was conducted with 30 participants aged 18–24. The results showed significant improvements in participants’ understanding of mathematical concepts (p < 0.01) after playing the game. Additionally, the game received positive feedback from participants regarding its quality and educational value. Expert reviewers also rated the game as “Good” in terms of its design and educational content. This study highlights the potential of educational games like “Math Conquest” to revolutionize the use of graphics in mathematical education for aspiring game developers. By leveraging interactive and engaging tools, educators can make complex mathematical concepts more accessible and enjoyable for students. Combining learning content with games is a great way to help students understand and enjoy difficult subjects. It can lead to better teaching methods that use both technology and education.
