Abstract

The research on increasing efficiency in the wiring harness production process using industrial engineering techniques aimed to study the wiring harness production process, improve the wiring harness assembly process, and increase the efficiency of the wiring harness production process. This was done by studying the wiring harness production process based on the Work study, Flow process charts and Line Balancing. The case study is work produced according to customer demand and production time required by the customer (Takt time), and the workpiece has a production process of 4 stations. The problem encountered is that some workstations have production cycle times that exceed the takt time and the production line is unbalanced. Improving the wiring harness assembly process using the ECRS technique, including combining, rearranging and simplifying. It was found that the production cycle of station 1 increased to 18.00 seconds, the production cycle of station 2 decreased to 17.00 seconds, the production cycle of station 3 decreased to 21.00 seconds, and the production cycle of station 4 decreased to 18.00 seconds. The total production time was reduced from 85.00 seconds to 74.00 seconds, and there was no station with a production cycle that exceeded the customer’s production time. After the improvement, the production efficiency was 3.22% higher than the customer's requirement and 19.02% higher than before the improvement. After the improvement, the production efficiency was 103.22% higher than the customer's requirement and 16.50% higher than before the improvement.
