Abstract
Thailand's energy situation reflects a continued growth in fossil fuel consumption, with an average share of 55%. The country is now transitioning towards greater use of renewable energy, increasing from its previous average of 11%. This transition is outlined in the national energy plan and various government policies, aiming for renewable energy to account for no less than 50% of total energy use.
Solar and wind energy play a crucial role in this transformation due to continuous technological advancements and increasing investments in power generation systems. These developments enable the energy sector to operate sustainably while supporting the goals of carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions.
Additionally, various measures have been implemented to protect the environment by providing incentives based on reduced greenhouse gas emissions and electricity generation from renewable sources. The use of carbon credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) further supports this transition. These mechanisms are essential in driving Thailand towards becoming a sustainable green energy society.
