Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) develop an electrically controlled pneumatic training kit and programmable logic controller (PLC) for instructional use; 2) evaluate the quality of the developed electrically controlled pneumatic training kit and PLC by experts; and 3) assess the satisfaction of students using the training kit and instructional materials. The sample group consisted of six diploma-level students from the Mechatronics and Robotics Department at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Pattani Campus. The research process included the development of the electrically controlled pneumatic and PLC training kit, the creation of experimental worksheets, the quality assessment of the training kit and worksheets, and the evaluation of the training kit's and worksheets' effectiveness. Statistical analysis was performed using mean, standard deviation, and percentage. The research tools included the electrically controlled pneumatic and PLC training kit and

experimental worksheets for designing and assembling pneumatic circuits. The research results indicated that the developed training kit consisted of one set with three cylinders that could be controlled electrically and by a PLC. All components were assembled and installed on a panel. The training kit was appropriately sized, portable, functional, and covered the skills taught in the course. There were six experimental worksheets. The quality assessment by experts rated the training kit's quality as very good (mean = 4.60, S.D. = 0.03), the usability as very good (mean = 4.60, S.D. = 0.62), and the quality of the worksheets as very good (mean = 4.52, S.D. = 0.24). Student satisfaction with the training kit was also rated very good (mean = 4.55, S.D. = 0.06). The effectiveness of the training kit and worksheets, when used with the student group, was found to be 86.79/88.26, which meets the 80/80 criteria and confirms the research hypothesis.
