Abstract
This paper explores the integration of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) with image
processing technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in high school STEM education. Given
the increasing influence of AI across various sectors and the necessity to prepare students for
future technological landscapes, this approach aims to bridge the current educational gap. By
introducing a phased curriculum that progresses from basic coding and AI concepts to advanced
applications and independent research, the framework fosters critical thinking, problem-solving,
and innovation skills among high school students. The curriculum leverages generative AI to
enhance learning at each phase, providing real-time feedback and personalised support. A pilot
project with student feedback highlights the effectiveness of this method in making AI concepts
accessible and engaging. The practical applications of AI in fields such as healthcare
demonstrate the relevance and impact of these technologies in real-world scenarios. This
integrated approach not only prepares students for potential STEM careers but also inspires
them to apply AI concepts creatively and practically. By bridging the gap between technological
advancements and high school education, this framework equips students with the skills and
knowledge necessary for future scientific and engineering careers.
