The research on reducing waste in the ordering of spare parts for maintenance work aims to study methods for reducing redundant orders for parts related to a new model of air conditioner and to lower the costs associated with ordering these parts. The preliminary study includes an inventory of spare parts, a case study on the air conditioner, and the ordering procedures for spare parts. The analysis identifies the causes of excessive inventory levels and inappropriate order quantities for spare parts. Following this, improvements in the ordering procedures were implemented by adding checks for interchangeable parts through a checklist and only ordering parts that are not interchangeable. As a result of this study showed a reduction in orders: before the adjustments, 60 items (totaling 300 pieces) had to be ordered according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. After the adjustments, only 44 items (totaling 220 pieces) needed to be ordered, resulting in a decrease of 16 items, which is a reduction of 26.66%. The costs decreased by 28.90%.
