Abstract
In the past three years, the COVID-19 pandemic had caused significant global disruption, leading to severe health, economic, and social challenges. As a result, people have become more cautious about hygiene to protect themselves from various infectious diseases, including COVID-19, influenza, and tuberculosis. Despite growing health concerns, the tradition of blowing out birthday candles remains popular, often without considering the potential hygiene risks. The act of blowing on the cake can transfer microorganisms from saliva to the cake surface, potentially leading to the spread of infections. This research focuses on developing a new type of cake packaging that addresses these hygiene concerns by preventing the transfer of pathogens. The study aims to design a paper-based packaging solution that aligns with the "New Normal" lifestyle, offering both practical and cost-effective protection for consumers. The research explores various design and production aspects to ensure the new designed packaging is functional, manufacturable, and able to meet cost constraints while improving hygiene standards in the cake industries.
