Abstract

Influenza is a significant concern among emerging infectious diseases and recurrent infections due to its frequent outbreaks worldwide, including in Thailand. Therefore, this paper aims to construct a mathematical model to determine the influential factors in increasing transmission and to suggest measures to prevent influenza. Mathematical analysis reveals that the disease-free equilibrium of the proposed model is globally asymptotically stable whenever the reproductive number denoted by R0 is less than or equal to unity. This result indicates that the disease is eliminated if the control measure is related to making R0 ≤ 1. Numerical solutions are demonstrated using real data from Thailand as a case study. The findings highlight key factors influencing influenza transmission, helping to develop effective preventive measures.
