Abstract
The buckling capacities of OHES having the height-to-radius ratios ranging of 0.30 to 0.90. The validity, convergence and accuracy of the proposed shell model and computational code are established by comparing the results with those obtained from previous experimental and numerical studies. Buckling loads and deformation profiles are presented for OHES with various support and loading conditions, height-to-radius ratios, and radius-to-thickness ratios. The results contribute to a deeper understanding of the structural stability of OHES, emphasizing the importance of all the aforementioned design parameters. By providing insights into the interplay between geometry, loading and support conditions and buckling behavior, the study offers valuable guidance for the optimization of OHES in engineering applications.
