Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of a photovoltaic (PV) power generation system with an integrated energy storage system (ESS) for a residential household in Bangkok, using the IEC 61724 standard as the analytical framework. The system under investigation is a hybrid PV-ESS configuration with a capacity of 55.31 kW, supported by a 67.2 kWh battery and a total inverter capacity of 12.6 kW. Real operational data were collected over a one-year monitoring period.

The analysis revealed that the system achieved an average Array Yield (YA) of 3.41 h/day, Final Yield (Yf) of 3.28 h/day, and Reference Yield (Yr) of 5.58 h/day. The system recorded an average Capture Loss (LC) of approximately 1.50 h/day and an average Balance of System Loss (LBOS) of 0.21 h/day. The average Performance Ratio (PR) was found to be 62%, while the overall system efficiency was approximately 10%. These results demonstrate the system’s capability to reduce dependence on grid electricity and to enhance efficient energy management. The findings confirm that the PV-ESS system can significantly lower household electricity costs while promoting the adoption of clean energy at the residential level. This contributes to both economic and social benefits, supporting the broader goals of sustainable energy utilization in urban communities.
