Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of reverse current in photovoltaic (PV) strings observed at a utility-scale PV power plant that has operated for over ten years without blocking diodes. In rare cases, reverse current reached up to −30 A. The longest recorded event lasted 32 minutes. About 95% of the events lasted no more than 7 minutes, while only 1% continued for more than 15 minutes.
