Abstract
This research assesses the Organizational Carbon Footprint (CFO) of a case study weekend market in Saphan Sung District, Bangkok. The primary aims were to quantify Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, analyze energy consumption, evaluate the significance of indirect GHG sources, and propose robust strategies for GHG reduction and environmental pollution management. Data were collected from January to December 2023and categorized into Scope 1 (Direct), Scope 2 (Energy Indirect), and Scope 3 (Other Indirect). The study revealed total GHG emissions from market activities of 139.25 tCO2e. Scope 2 (Electricity consumption) was the dominant source, accounting for 103.03 tCO2e, followed by Scope 1 and Scope 3, respectively. Assessment of indirect emissions identified water supply as a significant contributor. Proposed mitigation strategies include: eliminating individual septic tanks in favor of a centralized wastewater treatment system, upgrading internal wastewater treatment equipment, assigning supervisory personnel to the system, installing solar cells, and replacing electrical appliances and sanitary ware with high-efficiency models. Implementation of these measures is projected to achieve a potential reduction in GHG emissions of up to 133.44 tCO2e/yr.
