Abstract

The objective of this project is to develop a 2D animation titled Stray Cats Change Lives and Unexpected Love using the Cutout Animation technique, focusing on the application of this technique to create smooth and natural character movements. The development process begins with the creation of a storyboard, which plays a crucial role in planning key events, character development, and plot progression. This step ensures that the narrative is cohesive and well-structured. Following the storyboard, graphic design is carried out using Adobe Illustrator, with character components separated into layers to allow for movement. The Cutout
Animation technique in Adobe After Effects is then used to create realistic character movements. Additionally, short clips are recorded to enhance the storytelling, and these are edited in Adobe Premiere Pro before finalizing the animation. This project demonstrates the artistic potential and technical capabilities of Cutout Animation in creating engaging and realistic 2D animations. It also highlights the importance of the storyboard in guiding the overall flow and emotional tone of the animation. Moreover, it helps develop digital software skills, such as using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects, with a focus on layer management and effective animation creation. In the future, the development of this project will focus on improving the storyboard, animation quality, and storytelling before proceeding to the evaluation phase.
