Abstract

When multiple motors are driven by pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter through a long feeding cable, the motor terminal voltages are possibly increased double. The half-dc link inverter can be designed to effectively reduce this over-voltage by inserting the half-dc voltage level at each pulse of output voltage with the duration of the transport delay of cable. This paper presents the optimal configurations of multiple drives of induction motors using single half-dc link inverter for long cable applications. Both simulation and experimental results are presented to illustrate the configurations of multiple motors driven by single half-dc link inverter.
