Abstract

Engineering and design activities are crucial to construction projects which certainly require an effective tool to evaluate engineering performance among alternative projects. This paper presents a framework for engineering performance evaluation using Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM). It demonstrates the merits or drawbacks of the engineering performance measures among alternative projects. The appropriate actions are applied to manage and control a project. Fuzzy logic is applied to address the vagueness and imprecision of human subjectivity in the evaluating process. An illustrative application is provided through expert opinion to show the assessment of total and relative engineering performance. Copyright ฉ 2009, Inderscience Publishers.
