Abstract

This research presents the design and development of the Vortex86SX microprocessor-based islanding detection for photovoltaic grid connected inverter with simple under/over voltage and under/over frequency islanding detection algorithms. The design is based on the Vortex86SX microprocessor. The microprocessor monitors voltage and frequency at the PCC point and process the data for turn off the relay between photovoltaic grid connected inverter and utility grid when islanding occur. On the study a 2kW photovoltaic grid connected inverter has been chosen. The results of this research, the system can turn off the relay when islanding occur in case of grid voltage change under 200V or over 240V and the grid frequency change under 48Hz or over 52Hz.
