Abstract

The objectives of this study were to create the computer game for self-practice in proofreading and to evaluate the program quality, efficiency, and satisfaction of the players. The computer game was created following the idea of photo hunt and the program qualities were evaluated by 5 experts in publication and 3 experts in game design using questionnaire of 5-rating scale. The player samples consisted of 40 undergraduate students in related field, selected by simple random sampling to test the program efficiency and satisfaction. The ability improvement of players was compared between the first-time and the next-time playing on 10 defect hunt games. The results showed that the computer game qualities were good because the average scale evaluated by the experts in publication and game design was 3.92 (good) and 4.57 (very good), respectively. The skill of players was improved by average score of 14.11 % after playing the defect hunt games one more time. The average scale of satisfaction was 3.98, indicating that the computer game highly satisfy the players. Therefore, the computer game using the idea of photo hunt is suitable to be applied for self-practice in proofreading and entertainment. ฉ 2010 IEEE.
