บทคัดย่อ

Commercial coating of fluoride based lubricant on Al-alloy has been studied for its characteristic to reduce friction and to prevent metal to metal contact in cold forming operations. The tool material used is high speed steel JIS-SKH51 with 64 HRC. Various conditions of lubricant coating were applied in order to obtain variation in the coating weight ratio. Friction characteristic of the coating has been explored using ball on disk with circular relative movement. The ball was made from hardened high speed steel and the disk was Aluminum AA-6063 coated with fluoride based lubricant. It was found that the metal soap layer plays an important role in reducing friction. Friction and thinning mechanism of lubricant film during cold forming operation has been explored using double cup extrusion test. Finite element simulations, commercial code DEFORM have been used to obtain friction calibration curves and to explore contact pressure and sliding behavior of the deformed part in the localized area. It was found that coefficient of friction is reduced with increasing the lubricant weight ratio up to a certain level. Local thinning of fluoride coating has been found. The parameters influencing the degree of lubricant thinning are contact pressure and surface sliding. ฉ 2012 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
