บทคัดย่อ
The U-bending process has long been employed to fabricate sheet parts like channels, beams, and frames; the major problem encountered is the spring-back/spring-go feature. However, the bending mechanism and spring-back/spring-go feature in various Ubending processes of no pad, a pad, and a pad and blankholder have not been clearly identified. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to improve and control the product quality due to the difficulty in selecting suitable process parameters related to the material property and its thickness. In the present study, the finite element method (FEM) was used and laboratory experiments were performed to clarify the bending mechanism and spring-back/spring-go feature. The effect of punch radius was also investigated. On the basis of stress distribution and material flow analyses, the reversed bending characteristic generated in the case of no pad resulting in the increase of spring-go feature. In the case of a pad and blankholder, the work piece was stretched resulting in the wall thinning and poor geometry. In the case of a pad, the results showed that the use of pad could prevent the reversed bending characteristic; however the suitable pressure pad was strongly considered. The FEM simulation results were validated by the laboratory experiments. The FEM simulation bending force and bending angle results were agreed with those from the experimental results. ฉ 2012 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
