Paperboard can be converted into varieties of packaging making it being employed across spectrum of products. Oftentimes, paperboard requires moisture and grease resistance means reduce the environmental friendliness of paper so the aim of this research is to improve water and grease resistance while it also evaluated other factors that are important to packaging. The coating solution was prepared by dissolving 1 g of konjac flour in 100 mL distilled water. Glycerol (0.1, 0.3, and 0.5%) was added as a plasticizer. The coating solution was poured onto paperboard, placed on a flat surface tray. The assembly was then dried at 50ฐC for 10 hours. The coating improved moisture and grease resistance except for when the coating is applied on the front surface, which was originally coated. Coating with konjac glucomannan compromised the tensile strength of the material while it did not affect rub resistance. Burst and tear strength were slightly improved while elongation and gloss was improved significantly. The coating also made paperboard darker and yellower. % glycerol affected burst and tear strength, tensile strength and elongation in cross direction, gloss, lightness and greenness.
