บทคัดย่อ
There exist various methods to assess human health, environmental social and economic impacts. These methods overlap and complement each other by covering different aspects and looking from different angles. Stakeholders need support on how to assess the potential environmental and human health impacts. The aim of this chapter is to provide guidance to stakeholders on when to use a particular assessment method. The focus is on four assessment methods associated with human health and environmental impacts: Technology Assessment (TA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Risk Assessment (RA), and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Asia's worrisome municipal solid waste management (MSWM) is used for illustration throughout the chapter. Each method will be shortly described in general and illustrated for use in Asia, in relation to MSWM specifically The descriptions of the assessment methods are followed by a comparison on how they differ, overlap, and complement each other. This comparison is used to outline in the next section a decision tree that aims to guide stakeholders to the assessment method relevant for their specific MSWM project. The use of the decision tree is illustrated with an Asian example. ฉ 2012 Scrivener Publishing LLC.
