Abstract
In present study, the crystal structure of the shells was studied by x-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Furthermore, the quantity of various phases was determined by Rietveld refinement. The results show that the Amusium Pleuronectes shell consist of a mixture phase of aragonite and calcite. In addition, the ions in the Amusium Pleuronectes shell were also studies by Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy (ESR). The ESR spectra show that the sample of Amusium Pleuronectes shells consist of Mn2+ ions. The local environments of Mn2+ ions were verified from simulation of the spectrum approach to the interpretation of dynamics from electron spin resonance spectroscopy measurements. The possiblility of interpretation of relevant components in the systems with respect to appropriate spin Hamiltonian parameters. ฉ 2010 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
